About
Samir Germanwala, D.O., FACC, FSCAI, is a board-certified interventional cardiologist, born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is trained in internal medicine, general cardiology, and interventional cardiology, and performs numerous procedures in the cardiac and vascular fields. He obtained his Bachelor of Science from the University of Pittsburgh and completed medical school at Ohio University. He fulfilled his internal medicine, general cardiology, and interventional cardiology fellowships in Pittsburgh.
Dr. Germanwala also specializes in treatment of patients with peripheral vascular disease, including those suffering from critical limb ischemia and chronic total occlusions. Dr. Germanwala was the first in East Texas to perform transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) surgery and the only interventional cardiologist trained in this specialty. In addition, he is very involved in repairing abdominal aortic aneurysms and thoracic aortic aneurysms. Even with his busy practice, he remains very active in research trials, and recently has had papers and interviews published in the Journal of Invasive Cardiology and Endovascular Today.
Dr. Germanwala is very active in training cardiac and vascular colleagues. Each year, he conducts numerous peripheral and CTO courses at Longview Regional Medical Center, where physicians throughout the United States come for instruction in the use of various catheters and new technology. He is very involved in the release of new devices that are FDA approved, and creating treatment pathways with various industry leaders nationally and internationally. He is a medical faculty educator for TAVR and directs multiple national conferences.
Dr. Germanwala has been practicing in Longview for 13 years and is married to Gana Nadiga, M.D., who is an ophthalmologist. Together they have a daughter and a son.
